Talk:Barack Obama
From SuperDelegates.org - Information about the 2008 DNC Superdelegates
The idea of the super delegate and the Electoral College makes a mockery of the idea that the people of America elect the leader of this nation in a democratic process. We have been deceived about the office of the president of the United States as far back as 1877 when the African American race was used as a bargaining chip in the election of 1877 when the republican party of Rutherford B. Hayes promised to give control of African Americans back to the former slave owners in exchange for the democratic acceptance of Hayes as the president of the United States. This was and is still referred to as the compromise of 1877. Look at what we are dealing with, political parties are only interested in there own agendas not those of the people. George Washington denounced political parties and warned that they would divide the nation. Now answer your self, was he right? Look back there for your self and consider another method denying the American voter the right to choose the president. The Electoral College, the function of the College of Electors in choosing the president can be likened to that in the Roman Catholic Church whose College of Cardinals selecting the Pope. To me that is not a very democratic process. Develop your own belief, do Americans really choose their president or is that a decision that is made by a smaller selected group of individuals.
