From the Kansas Democratic Party Website: Bio: Chairman Larry Gates began his political career in Kansas Democratic politics in 1970 while helping with the Roy for Senate campaign. He is the former Johnson County Chairman and law partner of 3rd District Congressman Dennis Moore. Chairman Gates headed Governor Kathleen Sebelius' 2002 Finance Committee and was elected Chairman of the Party in 2003and reelected in 2005 and 2007. He is currently an attorney in Johnson County.
